On Oct. 6, the RVIA-promoted Manufacturing Day will take place. The coordinated occasion urges U.S. manufacturers to open their doors to demonstrate the potential of modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers.
The RVIA is encouraging RV manufacturers to host an event their plants, and showcase the jobs and technologies used at the facility.
Since the event began in 2012, participation has grown over 1,000 percent with nearly 600,000 participants taking part in 2016.
Changing people’s perceptions is the first step in addressing one of the main challenges faced by manufacturers today and the RV industry: a gap in skilled labor.
By giving manufacturers an occasion to share what they do within their communities, Manufacturing Day provides manufacturers with an opportunity to connect directly with job seekers and students to explain modern manufacturing’s advantages and benefits as a job, a key step in addressing the skilled labor shortage they face.
Supported by a group of industry sponsors, Manufacturing Day amplifies the voice of individual manufacturers and delivers a coordinated message about common concerns and challenges. The rallying point for a growing mass movement, Manufacturing Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.
