The 2018 model of Forest River’s XLR will now include the All American Super Suspension, a combination of independent axles, hydraulic spring & sway control, and precision alignment system that was reported first by RV PRO.

The new suspension was successfully tested more than 1,000 miles at NAVISTAR’s proving grounds.  Energy transfer data was also compared with a conventional suspension. The comparison data is on the right.

This new center section design eliminates 10 moving parts and 10 poorly lubricated pivot bolts from the conventional system, the supplier said in a press release. Joy Rider’s vertical shock operating position controls both compression and rebound forces.

High-performance ride characteristics are derived from independently functioning axles, called Liberty Rider. The slipper spring connects into the patent pending Liberty center section, smoothly passes road anomalies from axle to axle using roller bearings, eliminating the resistance, friction, and wear found in the old RV suspension design.

Independent axles increase tire braking traction by up to 70 percent. Aligned rigs are far less likely to jack-knife, according to the supplier.

Alignment capability provides liberation from excessive tire wear and vibration damage.

The Liberty suspension is paired with the new Bulls-Eye alignment activation hanger system.  This allows the owner to align the entire trailer and tow vehicle’s axles into parallel for more efficient fuel consumption, better tire wear, and reduced vibration.

Tire misalignment generates damaging vibration forces that begin in the suspension system and travel upward through the entire structure of the RV. These forces attack appliances, A/Cs, furnace, electronics, gas lines, water connections, and fasteners. The excess vibration prematurely ages RVs, the company said, and causes repair expense and lowers resale value.

The Joy Rider ride control shock absorber system, when paired with Liberty and Bulls-Eye, controls the bounce of the RV, while also restricting sway and the effects of high cross winds.
