In Decatur, Ind., REV Recreation Group is revving up for a March 7 visit from Helio Castroneves, a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and soon-to-be American Coach owner.
In November 2015, Castroneves’ camp reached out to REV Group, the parent company of 23 industry-leading vehicle brands, including American Coach, to begin building a custom motorhome for the race car driver.
Custom builds aren’t unusual at REV, but the request hit close to home, given the company’s proximity to Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The coach will be unveiled on March 7 at REV Recreation Group’s VIP Delivery Center at 1010 W. Commerce Drive during a private unveiling. REV Group will then hold a 45-minute press conference, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the VIP Delivery Center with Castroneves and REV President and CEO Tim Sullivan.
At 11:40 a.m., the men and women of REV Recreation Group will join Castroneves in Plant 44-2, located behind the main manufacturing facility, for a celebration, featuring Decatur’s own mayor, Kenneth Meyer, and a presentation of the coach’s keys to Castroneves.
The coach’s unveiling comes on the heels of REV Group’s multi-year partnership announcement with Team Penske, which puts REV in the spotlight during select 2016 races of the NASCAR XFINITY Series. REV will also be the primary sponsor of Castroneves’ No. 3 Team Penske Chevrolet during the Phoenix Grand Prix of the Verizon IndyCar Series.
