Gulf Stream Coach reported a 54 percent increase in production during January and February 2016 for its Lightweight Travel Trailer Division.
Lightweight Division National Sales Manager Tim Dennig said in a news release that the growth is due to the success of the new Vintage Cruiser, an ultra-lightweight, laminated-wall travel trailer with 1950’s-inspired styling.
“We say that the Vintage Cruiser combines the best of the old and the best of the new,” he said. “In terms of decor and styling, it has the fun vibe of the 1950s, but it has the latest construction materials, electronics, and appliances. It’s perfectly poised to take advantage of RV buyers’ interest in fuel-efficient, lightweight towables.”
Dennig said the increased interest has allowed the company to add dealers to its U.S. and Canada network.
“Consequently, we’re appearing in more shows than ever in our history. And what a season it’s been,” he said. “The Vintage Cruiser has turned into the center of attention at scores of RV shows attracting long lines of prospects eager to learn more about our product lines.”
Recent success with dealers in Minneapolis and Chicago have resulted in production uptick of the company’s Etna Green, Ind., plant, where Gulf Stream has expanded its staff.
“Our location just outside the Elkhart area has enabled us to increase staffing, production, supplier support, and shipping rates, at a time when enthusiasm for the product is high, and retail turn rates are brisk,” Dennig said. “Our production team is to be congratulated for their willingness to embrace the faster pace of production, while maintaining our historically high quality standards.”
