The new owners of Len’s RV in Brighton, Ontario, hosted a ribbon cutting at Wine and Cheese on Tuesday (April 5).
After more than 26 years in operation, Len’s RV was sold in November 2015 after co-owner Lynda Chamberlain decided to retire. Former co-owner Elida Radmore continues to work in the store.
“We’re in a small community, so we had the mayor and a couple of the councilors, the press and media,” Len’s Manager Rick Lockett said. “We’re going to take the dealership to the next level.”
The new ownership consists of a group of dealership investors that have ownership in about six other Canadian Jayco dealerships, according to Lockett.
Lockett and Co-Manager Mike Reid plan to expand the lot’s existing Jayco-exclusive inventory, something Lockett is particularly eager to embrace, after working in the industry for the past quarter-century.
“I’ve been in the business 25 years, and its taken me this long to finally sell Jayco,” said Lockett, who has worked as a Fleetwood factory rep and run his own dealerships during his career.
In addition to unit inventory, Lockett said the new team has expanded the parts inventory.
“There’s different levels in dealerships, and we’re part of a larger group,” Lockett said. “The trend is away from smaller dealerships and into more professionally run dealerships, where we do more in-house financing and all the extras.”
The new Len’s RV also will be hosting an Open House from April 8 to 10 to help celebrate the new ownership and to welcome the new RV season.
