Craigslist will begin charging a $5 posting fee for each RV advertisement posted by dealers starting Nov. 15, according to the website.

The website has charged for certain ads in the past, including auto and truck dealer postings as well as job recruiting.

"When this happened in the automotive space nearly 3 years ago, we recognized dealerships that put their budget together and continued posting on Craigslist saw lead volume increase by 15 times per unit,"LotVantage Marketing Manager Adam Goldberg wrote in a news release.

For car and truck dealers, the $5 ads are good for 30 days, can be edited but not reposted without an additional $5 fee. Those ads are also available for block purchases in advance in select U.S. cities.

It is unclear if the RV paid posting will follow the same format as the auto and truck paid postings, which began in 2013.

For auto and truck dealers, the fee reduced the total number of ads posted by reducing the amount of spam posts, according to a report from DealereProcess.com.

"Craigslist, the 12th most visited website in the United States, just cut out the spam from the RV category and put your ads right in the consumers’ view," Goldberg wrote. "The consumer experience will become much cleaner and focused for browsing when purchasing inventory.

"RV dealerships who dedicate an advertising budget to Craigslist will continue to expose their inventory to local market consumers. Dealerships who have not yet dedicated a budget to Craigslist will see tremendous value in this new pricing model."
