With a month remaining in what must be a banner year for Thor Industries and CEO/president Bob Martin, Forbes placed Thor CEO and President Bob Martin at No. 21 on its “Businessperson of the Year” list.

For Martin and Thor, 2016 has been a year of climbing income reports, expansions among its owned companies, such as Airstream and Dutchmen (among others), and the $576 million acquisition of Middlebury, Ind.-based manufacturer Jayco Corp.

In August this year, Martin joined Thor Co-Founder Peter Orthwein and other Thor execs on Wall Street to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

“It’s not just Baby Boomers taking to the road in recreational vehicles these days. Millennials are climbing aboard the trend and RV-maker Thor is cashing in. Profits have accelerated a cumulative 68% since Martin took the helm in 2013 and margins have steadily improved,” the magazine wrote, honoring Martin.
