A Goshen family spent part of the weekend giving back to the community.
The Johns family, of Goshen, gave away more than 100 toys Saturday at Martin’s Super Market in Nappanee, Ind., to children, who also had a chance to meet Santa Claus.
No, this wasn't a Toys for Tots drive or some similar organized event. Rather, it was an example of holiday giving at the most basic level: Lindsey and Dustin Johns simply wanted to do something nice for the community, the Elkhart Truth reports.
“We decided we wanted to give back to families, so we decided to buy a whole bunch of gifts,” Lindsey explained. “Whoever could make it out, we gave away scooters, video games, board games, guitars, drum set, all sorts of different stuff. It was a lot of fun.”
Lindsey said Martin’s staff told them to expect about 50 children, but they bought twice as many toys and wound up giving them all away.
