RV shipments rose slightly between August and September, dodging a typical late-summer slump for the highest September totals in nine years, according to the RV Industry Association’s monthly survey.

Strong performances by motorhomes and travel trailers offset drops in fifth wheels, popups and truck campers.

Travel trailer sales rose 22.8 percent compared to Sept. 2014, while Class A shipments increased 4.7 percent, Class B shipments rose 15.3 percent and Class C shipments rose 31.5 percent.

Shipments in the month were 2.3 percent greater than last month, but 12.4 percent above 2014 values.

Yearly totals are 5 percent ahead of 2014 numbers. Seasonally adjusted, shipments in September were at an annualized rate of more than 405,000 units.
